Rob Bisel is a Grammy award winning producer, mixer, and engineer based in Los Angeles.
From humble, unpaid beginnings cleaning bathrooms at Green Day’s studio in the Bay Area to learning under Rick Rubin at the legendary Shangri-La to eventually becoming one of SZA’s closest collaborators on SOS, Rob Bisel has always known how to seize an opportunity. Originally a mixer and engineer who worked with Frank Ocean, The Strokes, and Tyler, the Creator, Bisel would come home from all-nighters in the studio and get right to work producing beats. His dual musical fascinations fused together when Rubin sent him to Hawaii to work with SZA in January 2020, and the two built a fast creative friendship. Forming their own COVID bubble to keep working on the superstar singer’s sophomore album, Bisel began taking larger and larger roles in the creative process, contributing background vocals, playing instruments, producing, and writing on culture-shifting smashes like “Kill Bill” and “I Hate U.” Now with the full breadth of his talents on display and two armfuls of platinum plaques, Bisel is stepping into his own as a producer and writer and letting his varied skill set and eclectic taste guide him forward.
